22 Short & 22 Long Ammo

22 Short & 22 Long are older original rimfire calibers that predate the most popular 22 Long Rifle.  The 22 shorts and longs are also a "rimfire" design, the primer for ignition is filled within the the base rim of the cartridge.  This is crushed by the firing pin of the weapon igniting the gun powder and firing the cartridge.  While the 22 LR is America's favorite and greatest selling caliber there are still a lot of older firearms (& one current production NAA Mini revolver) still chambered in 22 Short.  The 22 rimfire caliber's benefits are their low recoil, lower price (often can be only about a tenth of most any centerfire caliber) as well as the usually lower price of the weapons chambered in these calibers.

Weapons chambered in 22 Short are usually smaller handguns and mouseguns (smallest little pistols) but there are a lot of tube magazine fed long guns, levers & pumps that will work great with 22 shorts & 22 longs as well as 22 LR's.  They also of course, work great in any kind of manual action from single shots, bolt actions, revolvers etc.  Make no mistake, these rounds, diminutive as they are, they're still entirely lethal but from being cheaper per-round, lightest felt recoil possible and still consistent, accurate and as reliable as their bigger brother the 22 LR, 22 shorts & longs remain very popular.  There are also "exotics" like old CB "gallery" loads that are only loaded in 22 Short & Long that have very low velocity so they're very popular for even lower noise plinking.  Contact us if you have any questions.
