20 Gauge is the 2nd most popular shotgun gauge behind 12 gauge and for good reason. It is a slightly smaller gauge making it better for smaller shooters, offering lower felt recoil with almost the same down range result be it game or defensive. Most shotgun manufacturers will have 20 gauge versions of their various 12 gauge offerings from Over/Under Trap & Skeet to Single Shot hunting shotties and even several Pump Actions, SxS (Side by Side or "Coach Guns") and of course autoloading actions from Browning to Benelli and more. It is a lighter recoiling round as well as a lighter weight than 12g yet still very effective for any task a shotgun excells at.
