Product Description
Western SUPER MATCH .38 Special "Mid-Range" (Oilproof), 148 gr. WadCutter "Clean Cutting Bullet" 38SMRP - 50 Rounds
NOTE: This Ammo is older classic, long out of production.
This ammo is collector's grade, "NEW OLD STOCK" ammo from "Western." Western is long out of production but they were a product of "WINCHESTER-WESTERN DIVISION, OLIN MATHIESON CHEMICAL CORPORATION.
This ammo was kept all of this time in an old surplus US military .50 cal. ammo can. The pics are from one of the 19 boxes I have. All are 50 rounds complete (we're keeping the partial) and each looks to be in about the same condition as the one pictured.
These are all sold "As Is" are as collectible. But do understand that this is entirely fine ammo for what it is, meaning it will all fire just fine as it was kept correctly all these past decades. The casings are nickel plated brass with flush 148 grain WadCutter projectiles.
The WadCutter Projectile (Bullet) is a classic low velocity blunt faced design to cut a pretty perfect circle in paper targets so see better down range without having to retrieve the target when shooting. These are also the loads used in many classic older auto-loading pistols like the S&W Model 52 and of course, any and all 38 special revolvers.
Although we do not have surviving factory velocity and energy for this ammo specifically, below we've included the current Winchester 38sp. 148gr WC "SUPER MATCH:"
From the back/bottom of the box:
"Loaded with smokeless powder and 148 grain lead clean cutting bullets. Primed with a non-corrosive priming. Designed for target shooting. Adapted to all Smith & Wesson, Colt, and other standard arms chambered for this cartridge."
